Senator Elissa Slotkin, currently representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on July 30, 2025, highlighting her views on artificial intelligence, Congressional stock trading, and efforts to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

In a post at 12:01 p.m., Slotkin commented on the transformative impact of new technologies: “Artificial intelligence has the potential to change our economy more than the internet did.”

Later that day at 4:50 p.m., she addressed public concerns regarding political self-enrichment and announced legislative action: “The American people think ALL politicians, Democrats and Republicans, use our position to enrich ourselves. Today, we sent a bill to the Senate floor that bans Members of Congress, the President, and VP from trading stocks. It’s not perfect, but it’s a good first step, and we”

At 6:15 p.m., Slotkin described her outreach to federal leadership concerning ongoing events in Gaza: “Today, I wrote the Trump Administration with a concrete proposal to address the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. This plan was brought to me jointly by leaders from Michigan’s Jewish and Muslim communities, based on the values both communities hold dear.”

Slotkin has represented Michigan’s 7th District since 2019 after succeeding Mike Bishop. She was born in New York City in 1976 and resides in Lansing. Her academic background includes graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
