Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed issues related to the Middle East and domestic policy on social media. Slotkin, who has served in Congress since 2019 and resides in Lansing, posted a series of messages highlighting ongoing humanitarian concerns and policy questions.

On July 14, 2025, Slotkin commented on recent violence in the Middle East, stating: “Another violent week in the Middle East: in Gaza, this weekend brought the death of another 60 Palestinians who were simply seeking food and water for their families. Israel has the responsibility to allow humanitarian aid in — just as the US had the responsibility to allow aid”.

Elissa Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1998. She succeeded Mike Bishop as representative of Michigan’s 7th district.
