Senator Elissa Slotkin, currently serving Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing significant national issues. Slotkin, who succeeded Mike Bishop in 2019, utilized her platform to discuss matters related to military deployment and intelligence briefings.

On June 17, 2025, Sen. Slotkin urged her followers not to disengage from current events with a concise message: “Don’t tune out.”

Later that day, she highlighted an unprecedented event regarding military deployment: “For the first time since LBJ, the military was called in against the wishes of a sitting governor.” This statement references a situation reminiscent of President Lyndon B. Johnson’s era.

Elissa Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and now resides in Lansing. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
