Senator Elissa Slotkin, currently representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has shared her thoughts on recent events through a series of tweets. Her statements address issues of national security, environmental policy, and law enforcement.

On May 14, 2025, Slotkin expressed gratitude towards federal law enforcement for preventing an attack. She emphasized the ongoing threat of terrorism on U.S. soil and underscored the importance of prioritizing the protection of military bases in Michigan from hostile drone attacks. “Thank you to the federal law enforcement who prevented this attack. This is a reminder that the threat of terrorism on U.S. soil is very real, and protecting our bases in Michigan from hostile drone attacks in particular needs to be a priority.”

Later that day, Slotkin criticized the Trump Administration’s decision to roll back protections aimed at curbing harmful chemicals known as PFAS. She argued that these actions would compromise the safety of drinking water and shared her statement regarding this weakening of federal clean water rules. “The Trump Administration’s rollback of protections to curb harmful forever chemicals will make our drinking water less safe.”

On May 15, 2025, Slotkin reflected on Police Week by acknowledging the bravery and sacrifice demonstrated by fallen officers in Michigan. She noted how their colleagues’ presence during this time serves as a poignant reminder of their dedication and service. “Seeing the colleagues of the fallen officers in Michigan show up during Police Week serves as a physical reminder of their bravery and sacrifice.”

Elissa Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and now resides in Lansing, Michigan. She has been serving since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019 after graduating from Cornell University with a BA.
