Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. Since taking office after replacing Mike Bishop in 2019, she has focused on various national security and humanitarian issues as part of her congressional work.
