Senator Elissa Slotkin, representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, shared insights on her recent activities and reflections via social media posts.

On July 9, 2025, Senator Slotkin commented on her experience with the Pentagon budget process. She expressed satisfaction with the Senate’s functionality in this area during her initial six months, stating: “My takeaways after several hours working on the Pentagon budget. In my first six months, it has been one of the few examples of the Senate working as intended.”

The following day, July 10, she emphasized the need for fundamental governmental reform to benefit middle-class Americans. Her Economic War Plan aims to rebuild existing systems rather than make minor adjustments. She remarked: “Middle class Americans need government to get back to the basics. My Economic War Plan aims not to ‘fix’ these systems or nibble around the margins – but to rebuild them.”

Later that same day, Senator Slotkin shared a personal moment from her birthday celebration. Her staff surprised her with a cherry pie instead of a traditional cake. She expressed gratitude for the well wishes she received: “My staff surprised me for my birthday today — with a cherry pie in lieu of cake. Thanks for all the well wishes!”

Elissa Slotkin has served in Congress since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019 and is noted for her educational background from Cornell University and residency in Lansing.
