Mike Rogers, an Army veteran and businessman endorsed by former President Donald Trump, filed 30,000 petition signatures on Apr. 17 to qualify for the U.S. Senate ballot in Michigan. The number of signatures submitted is double the required amount and represents the maximum allowed for submission.

The campaign says this step highlights its grassroots support and underscores the importance of the Michigan Senate race for both state and national issues. According to Rogers at a press conference in Lansing, “I’m grateful for the outpouring of support across the state and 30,000 Michiganders who wrote their name down declaring that they’re ready for a change in Michigan. There’s no reason it should be this hard to buy a house, get a job, or send our kids to a good school.” He added: “Democrats got us into this mess, and when you elect me to the U.S. Senate, I’ll fight every day to get us out of it. This November will be an awakening for Michigan Democrats when we win this seat back and Get Michigan Working Again.”

Volunteers supporting Rogers also shared their reasons for backing his campaign during the event. Rett DeBoer from Ottawa County said: “I’m supporting Mike Rogers because Michigan families deserve better… Our schools have plummeted, housing costs are through the roof… This November, we’re going to send the Democrats packing and elect a Senator who actually cares about our state: Mike Rogers.” Reggi Wilk from Oakland County said: “Volunteering for Mike Rogers has been a chance to chip in and help bring about the change Michigan so desperately needs… Mike Rogers is exactly the army-strong, battle-tested leader we need in the U.S. Senate…” Geri Syzmanski from Emmet County added: “I’m investing in Mike Rogers because he invests in us… It’s time for a leader who puts Michigan First.”

Rogers was reportedly first among candidates in collecting enough signatures by December last year. The campaign says it has built one of its largest ground operations with more than 200 co-chairs and six active volunteer coalitions standing behind him.

The campaign aims to promote economic growth, job creation, cost reductions and protection of benefits for seniors in Michigan according to the official website. It also engages actively in electoral activities related to this year’s U.S. Senate race according to its website. For correspondence purposes, P.O. Box 132 in St. Joseph is listed as its address according to official information.

Rogers continues leading his campaign as noted on the official site, emphasizing recent polling leads as well as President Trump’s endorsement.
