Senator Elissa Slotkin, a representative of Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently shared insights on sensitive matters concerning national security and international relations through a series of tweets. Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, Slotkin graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1998.
On May 12, 2025, Slotkin tweeted about the critical role Air Force One plays during significant national events. She stated that “On Air Force One, the president discusses sensitive intelligence and pending operations, makes critical decisions, and, as on 9/11, it’s used as an emergency command and control center for urgent military decisions.”
In another tweet on the same day, she highlighted concerns regarding foreign involvement with sensitive U.S. assets by stating “Beyond that, the sheer security risk of letting a foreign country deliver what is one of the most sensitive assets the U.S. has.”
Further emphasizing her point about foreign influence and its implications for national security policy, Slotkin described a past investigation involving potential undue influence over a Pentagon official. She noted “It was a serious and drawn-out investigation: files were seized, staff were questioned, and it took years to resolve. All for fear that a foreign government would have undue influence over a mid-level Pentagon official.” She then contrasted this situation with current presidential actions by adding “Now the President is taking a $400 million foreign gift.”
