Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat representing Michigan in the U.S. Senate, addressed issues ranging from government ethics to holiday well-wishes in a series of posts on April 1, 2026.
In one post dated April 1, 2026, Slotkin criticized potential conflicts of interest involving defense-related financial transactions by senior officials: “There are no circumstances where the @SecWar’s personal stockbroker should be buying or selling *any* defense-related stocks — but particularly moments before the U.S. sends its service members to fight and die in war. We cannot allow this type of corruption to become normal,” she wrote.
Earlier that day, Slotkin shared a link without further comment (April 1, 2026).
Later on April 1, she posted a message marking Passover: “Wishing a joyous Passover to everyone celebrating today, from my family to yours. Especially during a tough time, I hope that everyone remembers the bitter and rejoices in the sweet — surrounded by the comfort of family and friends. Chag Sameach!”
Slotkin’s background includes multiple tours in Iraq as a CIA analyst alongside military personnel and service in national security roles at both the Pentagon and White House under two presidents (official website). She currently serves on Senate committees focused on armed services, homeland security and governmental affairs, agriculture, and veterans’ affairs (official website). Her office has also assisted Michigan residents with federal agency matters (official website). Additionally, Slotkin won election to a congressional seat previously held by an opposing party member before her current Senate role (official website).
