Born in New York City and currently residing in Lansing, Slotkin has been vocal about topics affecting both her constituents and broader national concerns.
On June 18, 2025, Senator Slotkin expressed concern over the impact of fentanyl on Michigan communities. She emphasized the need for resources and cooperation with Canada to curb the cross-border flow of fentanyl, stating “Fentanyl is causing profound tragedy, pain and heartache that cuts across Michigan… Lives are at stake.”
Later that day, she highlighted Michigan’s proactive stance on PFAS contamination. Referring to a collaborative effort with Great Lakes PFAS Action for a town hall meeting in Oscoda, she noted “Michigan was one of the first to issue PFAS warnings… This isn’t partisan, it’s about clean water.”
In another post from June 18th, Slotkin referenced an order allegedly given by former President Trump during his first term regarding shooting unarmed protestors. She remarked “Shooting unarmed protestors is not theoretical… That Secretary didn’t carry out that and other orders because he had the guts to stand up to a President.”
