Rep. Elissa Slotkin, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, articulated her thoughts through a series of tweets on April 2, 2025. She commented on legislation, healthcare, diversity, and the actions of fellow senators. Slotkin, who succeeded Mike Bishop, has been vocal on various policy issues since her election.

On April 2, 2025, Rep. Slotkin acknowledged Sen. Cory Booker’s lengthy Senate speech, writing “History is made by those who don’t give up.” She added that Booker’s effort, which set a Senate record by lasting over 24 hours, represented the concerns of Americans regarding financial issues and democratic values.

In another statement on the same date, Slotkin emphasized healthcare accessibility, noting, “To me, it’s simple: everyone should have access to health care that they can afford.” She supported legislation aimed at addressing pharmaceutical costs and enhancing affordability.

Later that day, Slotkin addressed the subject of diversity within military ranks, declaring, “It’s not ‘some DEI thing’ to recognize warriors of color.” She urged the Secretary of Defense to acknowledge the contributions of servicemen and women of color and criticized any efforts to diminish this recognition.
