Representative Elissa Slotkin, serving Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, shared a series of tweets on January 21, 2025, covering topics ranging from local recognition to constitutional issues and bipartisan collaboration.

In a tweet posted at 21:02 UTC, Rep. Slotkin expressed gratitude towards Lansing Mayor Andy Schor for a unique gesture. "Special thanks to Mayor @andyschor of Lansing, who surprised me with a special commemorative street sign, and the pins from each of their respective cities! Right off their lapels! There’s a lot we can do together, so it was great to get started."

Later that evening at 23:08 UTC, Slotkin emphasized her stance on constitutional protection concerning birthright citizenship. She stated, "I have been clear about the importance of protecting our Constitution, and Birthright citizenship is clearly enshrined in our Constitution by the 14th Amendment. It cannot be waived away by Executive Order." Additionally, she voiced support for Michigan Attorney General's legal actions against potential changes via executive orders.

In another tweet at 23:30 UTC, Slotkin reflected on her experience at an inauguration event with Holly Township Supervisor George Kullis. Despite differing political views, Slotkin noted their effective collaboration over time. She mentioned, "Yesterday at the inauguration, I got to share the day with my good friend from the other side of the aisle, Holly Township Supervisor George Kullis. While George and I disagree on some things, we’ve always worked exceedingly well together to help Michiganders."
