Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, Slotkin is known for her focus on accountability and economic security.

On March 5, 2025, Rep. Slotkin emphasized the importance of civic engagement and accountability. She urged citizens to take action by stating: "America is precious and worth saving, here is how you can help: 1. Don’t tune out 2. Hold your elected officials accountable 3. Pick one issue you’re passionate about and organize".

The following day, March 6, 2025, she expressed concerns over recent developments involving Elon Musk and DOGE cryptocurrency by commenting on their impact on economic stability: "I am all for shaking things up to deliver for the American people. To lower costs and protect our economic and national security. But there is a difference between responsible and reckless. What we are seeing from Elon Musk and DOGE is just reckless."

Later that day, Rep. Slotkin highlighted Michigan's historical role in shaping the middle class through its automotive industry while advocating for labor rights legislation: "Michigan invented the middle class, where you could work at an auto plant and afford the car you were building. And the middle class simply wouldn't exist without the labor movement. That's why I support the PRO Act; it enforces a fair timeline for the first contract,…"
