Although she missed the initial tree tapping, she expressed gratitude for being part of the boiling process and was presented with a maple leaf as a memento. "Yesterday, I was invited to join a special tradition of boiling sap to make maple syrup with 'The Geezers' (their name!). I missed the tree tapping but the boiling was on! Thanks so much for having me, and presenting me with a maple leaf of my own to remember this occasion!"
Later that day, Slotkin highlighted her attendance at an event celebrating apprenticeships. She congratulated graduates from the Michigan Regional Council of Millwrights and Carpenters, emphasizing the importance of such programs in building and maintaining economic stability.
