On March 19, 2025, Slotkin tweeted about her meeting with business leaders from Macomb County. She stated: "When DC sneezes, Michigan gets a cold. Yesterday, I met with business leaders from Macomb Co. to talk about how I can help and how we can work together -- from protecting the missions at Selfridge to how a trade war with Canada and federal cuts could raise costs for businesses."
In another tweet dated March 20, 2025, she addressed potential economic impacts of Canadian tariffs: "If Canadian tariffs go through, the increased price of lumber could result in higher costs for local projects in Flint, costing millions. Continuing her visit in Flint on the same day, Slotkin highlighted concerns related to education funding: "Our visit to Flint continued on to @UMFlint, where the uncertainty around education, research and scholarship funding looms large. With over 90% of the students on some form of financial aid, university and student leaders are searching for a way to plan for the year ahead."
