Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, recently addressed issues related to health insurance rate increases and government funding negotiations through a series of posts on her social media account.

On September 8, 2025, Slotkin commented on rising health insurance costs: "When you get notice that your health insurance is going up. Get that letter. Scrub your name. And post it online. People should understand that the rate increases are because of what the president decided to do on health care. We shouldn't take that lying down."

Later the same day, she posted about broader economic and technological challenges facing American citizens: "In this new era of economic and tech warfare, it's our citizens who are now serving on the front lines and they are under attack." (September 8, 2025).

Addressing upcoming legislative deadlines, Slotkin stated: "We have a big deadline to fund government on September 30. And if the President wants my vote, he has to negotiate. One place to start is to walk back cuts to health care." (September 8, 2025).

Elissa Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and resides in Lansing. She graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1998.
