Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, recently used her social media platform to discuss her approach to national security and highlight legislative efforts related to firefighter health and bipartisan cooperation.

On September 9, 2025, Slotkin wrote, "When I decided to lay out a new vision on national security, I did something many would not think to do. Talk to Michiganders." She also encouraged the public to engage with legislative developments by posting, "Learn more about our bipartisan bill here: https://t.co/fuoLLq36fn" on the same day.

Addressing occupational health risks faced by first responders, Slotkin stated in another post dated September 9, 2025: "Firefighters put their lives on the line to protect others, and in doing so, they are unfortunately exposed to dangerous chemicals that increase their risk of cancer. Ensuring that these hardworking men and women have access to regular, free cancer screenings is the least we can".

Slotkin has served in Congress since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Her academic background includes graduating from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
