Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congress member representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, recently shared her views and activities on social media, addressing both legislative milestones and recent Supreme Court decisions.
On September 16, 2025, Slotkin wrote about her participation in an event honoring the late Senator Carl Levin: "I was invited to speak at the 10th Anniversary of the Carl Levin Center for Legislative Oversight and Democracy (@Levin_Center) at Wayne State University Law School (@_WayneLaw). I dedicated this speech to Carl Levin, who showed us what it meant to serve with integrity." She also shared a related link in a subsequent post on the same day: "https://t.co/QfcaNOfbGb".
Later that day, Slotkin commented on a recent Supreme Court decision involving Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE): "The Supreme Court decided ICE can use race and language to profile individuals. This fundamentally chafes against anyone who cares about democracy, and we shouldn’t have segments of our population walking around in fear. The President is using a policy of division as a tactic."
Slotkin’s remarks come amid ongoing debates about immigration enforcement policies and their implications for civil liberties. The Supreme Court ruling referenced by Slotkin has sparked concern among some lawmakers regarding its potential impact on racial profiling practices by federal agencies.
Elissa Slotkin, born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, has built her career around public service since succeeding Mike Bishop in Congress. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University (1998).
