Senator Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, shared personal and political reflections on her social media account over recent days.

On September 21, 2025, Slotkin posted about her family's struggle with the healthcare system: "My mom was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer. Fighting with health insurance companies so that she could get care is something I would not wish on my worst enemy. That experience drives the work that I did in the House, and certainly, why I’m here on this floor today."

The following day, September 22, 2025, she commented on ongoing debates regarding tax policy and healthcare funding: "They didn’t want to say it out loud: that in order to pay for permanent tax cuts for the wealthy, they had to cut health care for Americans."

Later that evening, Slotkin extended greetings for the Jewish New Year: "Shana Tovah and happy new year to all who celebrate! Wishing you a celebration surrounded by family and friends, as we look forward to hopefully a sweeter new year. Especially in these times, it's important to be hopeful and look forward."

Slotkin has represented Michigan’s 7th District since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019. She was born in New York City in 1976 and resides in Lansing. Slotkin graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
