Sen. Elissa Slotkin raises concerns on cost of living and environmental cleanup

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, addressed a range of policy issues and community concerns in a series of tweets posted on September 23, 2025.

In her first post at 13:05 UTC, Slotkin questioned the economic impact of President Trump’s policies, stating: "President Trump said he was going to put more money in your pocket. But can anyone name a single place where your costs have gone down, not up, since January?"

Later that day at 16:22 UTC, she highlighted ongoing environmental challenges faced by communities in Michigan. Slotkin wrote: "Communities like Oscoda and Grayling fought tooth and nail to get the Defense Dept to clean up forever chemicals, and are sick and tired of roadblocks, red tape and delays. This is not a partisan issue, and President Trump and Sec. Hegseth have no excuse."

She stated: "Yesterday, I hosted a town hall with students at Cass Tech in Detroit. From student loans to health care to homelessness, these students asked thoughtful questions, and their honesty and curiosity blew me away. It also put some much-needed gas back in my tank: These young"

Elissa Slotkin has served as the representative for Michigan's 7th District since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019. Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, she graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1998.
