Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, shared her views on foreign policy and domestic health care through a series of posts on September 24, 2025.
In one post, Slotkin emphasized the importance of aligning America’s foreign policy with the interests of the middle class. She wrote, "America's foreign policy needs to be rooted in helping the middle class here at home. Argentina is a partner, but instead of a taxpayer-funded bailout, we should leverage our assistance for economic wins that we can explain to the American people. Later that day, Slotkin criticized former President Trump’s health care policies: "President Trump has systematically made America poorer and sicker. The health care decisions he made in the Big Beautiful Bill don’t just cut ACA subsidies or Medicaid— it will cause every person on private insurance to pay 10-20% more. https://t.co/THaSMsiht5" (September 24, 2025).
In another post addressing legislative negotiations over government funding, she stated: "What do you do in politics when you are not in charge? Well, at the end of this month, the Republicans need my vote on government funding. So you better believe I’ve said, if you want my vote, we need to talk about reversing Medicaid cuts, Obamacare cuts and health care research https://t.co/1Y6Ys0w5AW" (September 24, 2025).
Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She earned her BA from Cornell University in 1998.
