Sen. Elissa Slotkin visits Detroit HBCU and comments on bipartisanship challenges

Senator Elissa Slotkin, currently representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on her recent activities and perspectives through a series of social media posts on September 24, 2025.

Later that day at 15:19 UTC, Slotkin highlighted a local Detroit restaurant known for its community focus and southern cuisine. She wrote, "Had lunch this week at Jive Turkey Southern Kitchen-- a Detroit spot serving up soul food with a lot of love. Addressing political dynamics in Washington at 17:09 UTC on the same day, Slotkin commented on bipartisan cooperation among senators: "Senators don’t want to be seen working across the aisle because it’s politically costly. Slotkin has served as Michigan’s 7th district representative since 2019 after replacing Mike Bishop in Congress and is based in Lansing. Born in New York City in 1976, she earned her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in 1998.
