Senator Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, shared several statements on her social media account on October 9, 2025, addressing topics ranging from diplomatic breakthroughs to health insurance affordability and constitutional concerns.

In a post made at 01:00 UTC, Slotkin commented on recent developments in mediation efforts, stating "Hopeful news as the mediators appear to have had a breakthrough today. There’s much to be done to make this work, but it’s good to have a reason to hope."

Later that evening at 01:55 UTC, she discussed her remarks delivered on the Senate floor regarding executive authority and constitutional boundaries: "I took to the floor of the Senate tonight to talk about War Powers, how President Trump is using a well-worn authoritarian playbook and how nobody gets to rewrite the Constitution. Not a President. Not an advisor. No one."

Addressing healthcare concerns later that day at 18:47 UTC, Slotkin posed a rhetorical question about constituent struggles with health insurance costs: "What am I supposed to say when someone calls me crying that they’re not going to be able to afford their health insurance? That I am just going to roll over?"

Slotkin has represented Michigan's 7th District since succeeding Mike Bishop in 2019. Born in New York City in 1976 and now residing in Lansing, she holds a BA from Cornell University (1998).
