Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, recently addressed a range of policy issues on her social media account.

On October 9, 2025, Slotkin shared a personal story to highlight her stance on health care reform: "Yes, I’m going to fight for health care. When my mother was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer and didn’t have health insurance, it was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to deal with."

The following day, she advocated for economic and resource security measures by stating: "We need a Rare Earth Reserve and a Sovereign Wealth Fund now!" This call comes amid ongoing discussions about the United States' strategic reserves and financial planning.

Later on October 10, Slotkin commented on international affairs: "The ceasefire agreement is welcome news. Hopefully it will endure and lead to a lasting peace."

Slotkin has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Mike Bishop as representative for Michigan's 7th district. She was born in New York City in 1976 and resides in Lansing. Slotkin holds a BA from Cornell University (1998).
