Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, has raised concerns about the state of the U.S. health care system through a series of posts on her social media account on October 12, 2025.
In a post made at 13:30 UTC, Slotkin stated, "Our health care system is headed toward a crisis because of what this President has done on health care. And it’s going to cause everyone to either pay more or lose their health care. This includes people on private insurance who are getting their letters as we speak. Over 450".
Later that day at 16:01 UTC, she shared an example from her district: "A child care provider in Ypsilanti told me the group plan for her, her family and her small number of employees is going up $469 per month. She is thinking about dropping insurance entirely because she can’t afford it. Share your story: https://t.co/Ufi4f9HOST https://t.co/bsOFod1z6W".
By the evening at 21:30 UTC, Slotkin continued highlighting constituent experiences: "Several people wrote in about insurers leaving the https://t.co/6af0Z7VUAU marketplace, which gives people fewer options. A woman from Berkley sent me this letter she received from her provider that is leaving the marketplace. Share your story: https://t.co/Ufi4f9HOST https://t.co/iKhFIMyRP0".
Elissa Slotkin has represented Michigan's 7th District since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019 and resides in Lansing after being born in New York City in 1976. She graduated from Cornell University with a BA in 1998.
Her recent statements come amid ongoing debates over health care policy and insurance market stability nationwide.
