Senator Elissa Slotkin, currently representing Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of messages on her official X (formerly Twitter) account addressing congressional operations and public health concerns.

On October 16, 2025, Slotkin announced an opportunity for internships in her office: "Intern with Senator Slotkin! Deadline to apply is October 27th https://t.co/6F39RJKMzk".

Later that day, she criticized the ongoing absence of the House and commented on statements by Speaker Johnson regarding health care issues: "The House has been out 28 straight days. Paid. And @SpeakerJohnson is dismissing the health care crisis as ‘just politics.’ It’s not politics. It’s your kid’s doctor visits. Your mom’s cancer screening. It’s deeply personal. And the letters being sent to Michiganders about price https://t.co/Ffp1exx982".

On October 17, Slotkin addressed her Republican colleagues with a call for dialogue and resolution: "Trying the same thing over and over is the definition of crazy. To my Republican colleagues, let's act like adults, have a conversation and solve this. https://t.co/y2XV003LP8".

Slotkin has served in Congress since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019 and represents Michigan's 7th District. She was born in New York City in 1976 and resides in Lansing. Slotkin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Cornell University, graduating in 1998.
