Senator Michael Webber has recognized Ryan R. Wang, a senior at Troy High School, for being named a 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholar by the U.S. Department of Education.

“Congratulations to Ryan on his outstanding achievement by being named as a Presidential Scholar,” said Webber, R-Rochester Hills. “His success is inspiring and serves as a great source of pride for the Troy school community, his neighbors across the 9th Senate District and the entire state of Michigan.”

The White House Commission on Presidential Scholars chooses finalists based on several criteria, including academic performance, achievements in arts and technical education, essays, evaluations from schools, transcripts, and demonstrated leadership and commitment to community service. The program was established in 1964 to honor distinguished graduating high school seniors nationwide. Each year up to 161 students are chosen as Presidential Scholars.

Alongside Wang, Alexandra Kate Paisley from Shrine Catholic High School in Royal Oak also received recognition among Michigan students for this annual distinction. A full list of 2025 U.S. Presidential Scholars can be found at www.ed.gov/psp.

Michigan’s 9th Senate District covers Rochester, Rochester Hills, Troy and Utica as well as parts of Oakland Township, Shelby Township and Sterling Heights.
