The Michigan Democratic Party is set to open a new office on Woodward Avenue in Detroit next week. The office aims to strengthen the party's presence in Southeast Michigan and support efforts to engage with local communities.

According to the party, the new location will be used for volunteer training, canvassing, and events intended to inform voters throughout Southeast Michigan. These activities are designed to increase voter turnout and counter what the party describes as "ever-rising extremism."

Curtis Hertel, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, commented on the opening: “We are really excited about this new office and everything it will offer Detroiters and the larger Southeast Michigan region. This office is just the newest way that the Michigan Democratic Party is showing up year round and getting involved in the communities that we are fighting for."

Hertel also stated: “For this party, there truly is no such thing as an off-year, and we look forward to having a new home base in Detroit as we work to elect Democrats who will fight for a working families agenda up and down the ballot.”

The party’s decision reflects ongoing efforts by political organizations in Michigan to maintain active engagement with voters between major election cycles.
