Failed Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers stated in a recent radio interview that Michigan no longer has a “Big Three” automaker presence, effectively excluding Stellantis and its 48,000 U.S. autoworkers from the group. The comments were made during an appearance on the Scott Jennings Show on October 22, 2025.
Rogers said: “The President just tweeted today, Scott, that the General Motors and Ford CEOs called and said, ‘Hey, thanks for those tariffs, because you’re saving our truck building capability here in Michigan and around the country.’ So when you have the big, you know, the Big Two now, used to be the Big Three, the Big Two talking about, ‘Hey, thank you for doing that.’”
Curtis Hertel, Chair of the Michigan Democratic Party, responded to Rogers’ remarks with a statement:
“Mike Rogers’ dismissal of Stellantis and its 48,000 American autoworkers shows exactly why Michiganders rejected him in 2024—he’s an out-of-touch Florida millionaire who abandoned our state and has no idea what’s at stake for working families. While Rogers writes off one of the Big Three automakers, Democrats will continue fighting for every auto job and every worker who built this state’s economy.”
Rogers is a former Michigan congressman who relocated to Florida after his time in office. His recent comments have drawn criticism from Democratic leaders in Michigan.
