Michigan Credit Union League issued the following announcement on Dec. 19
University of Michigan Credit Union (UMCU) recently donated $5,125 in toys and gifts to the Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital in an effort to make the holidays special for families of children at the hospital. This donation was made possible by the kindness and generosity of members and team members who contributed to UMCU’s ninth annual “Toys for Mott” toy drive.
Starting Nov. 4 through Dec. 6, UMCU invited members and the community to donate new, unwrapped toys at any branch location. In addition to toys, UMCU also collected monetary donations at the branches and through internal initiatives such as “Jeans for a Cause” in which employees donate $15 every month to wear jeans Wednesdays and Fridays. The monetary contributions were used to purchase additional toys.
Twenty-four UMCU team members also volunteered at the Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital Holiday Store to help wrap all of the donated gifts. Families of the children at the hospital visit the store to select holiday presents for each child in their family for free.
“Every year, this toy drive is flooded by the generosity and benevolent hearts of our members who want to help make the holidays special for the families of children at Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. We are incredibly grateful for the continuous support of this wonderful cause and thankful to everyone who helped make this donation possible” said Julie Wigley, UMCU Vice President of Brand and Community Development.
UMCU also donated $1,375 to the Michigan Medicine Natal Intensive Care Unit and $1,000 to the Genesys Hospital Pediatric Department.
