NEW & RETURNING AQUATIC AND RECREATION OPPORTUNITIES

Sports2

Charlotte Public Schools issued the following announcement on Sept 29.

We are very excited about two important announcements!  First, the moment we have waited so long for has finally arrived!  On Saturday, October 2nd, we will begin open play pickleball and tennis on our brand-new courts.   These beautiful courts have been made possible through the generous investment of our community through the November 2020 bond.

We will get things started with a celebration of cider and donuts at 9:00 am on Saturday.   The Charlotte Aquatic Center will host adult open play pickleball and tennis on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday afternoons from 2:30 – 5:30pm and on Saturday mornings from 9:00am – 12:00pm.  Each Saturday morning there will be free pickleball lessons at 9:00 a.m.   Family tennis camp is offered through Oriole Youth Recreation.   More information can be found at www.charlotteorioles.com.  The Aquatic Center will have rackets and pickleballs on hand for anyone that may need to borrow them on a first come first serve basis while participating in open play.  We look forward to seeing you on our brand-new courts located at Charlotte High School, 378 State Street.

Also, back by popular demand…Early Bird swimming at Charlotte Aquatic Center!  Starting Monday, Sept 27th the Charlotte Aquatic Center will be open at 6:00 a.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings.  A big welcome and thank you to our newest lifeguards, Gary Buxton, Sarah Cool, Abby Pardick, and Amy Smith.  We will be hosting our next round of lifeguard training for adult lifeguards soon.  Please join our team so that we can open our pool in the afternoons as well!  To become a lifeguard please contact the Charlotte Aquatic Center at 517.541.5740 or you can email Julie Davis at davisj@charlottenet.org.
