Charlotte Public Schools issued the following announcement on Dec 8.
Students traveled to Davenport University to pitch a business opportunity
Shark Tank Week was the second week of November, and Charlotte High School students were able to participate in an event sponsored by Davenport University. On November 3, the students went to the University’s Grand Rapids campus where they were able to tour the facilities and had time to develop a pitch for a business opportunity. The scenario given was “create a product or service that is needed during the holiday season”. The students were allowed 20 minutes to come up with a pitch and had to present their idea in front of other students and staff members, who played the role of the “Shark Tank” investors.
This was the first time Charlotte has participated in this event, and the students did a wonderful job for not knowing what to expect. Also, they had some great ideas for next time we send a group of students to pitch! Davenport University graciously provided a free lunch for all of the students and teachers, and gave the students an experience of how to be a successful entrepreneur, and all at no cost!
