City of Midland issued the following announcement on Jan 4.
It’s officially winter in Midland: City Forest is now open for cold-weather activities!
Midland City Forest is a 520-acre all-season recreational area that features two trail systems open to hikers, mountain bikers, runners, and equestrians in spring, summer, and fall. In winter, City Forest offers a groomed, lighted sledding hill; a large outdoor ice rink; 7.5 miles of groomed trails for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing; Michigan’s only hand-packed toboggan runs; and a chalet with concessions and sled, ski, or skate rentals available. The park is open from 6 a.m. – 11 p.m. daily. Chalet operating hours at Fridays, 4 – 9 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.; Sunday, 12 – 6 p.m.; and on Midland Public Schools personal development days from 12 – 6 p.m.
Please note: The toboggan run will remain closed until an increase in staffing levels makes it safe to open. Visitors are prohibited from using the toboggan run while it is closed. Residents interested in a seasonal part-time job at City Forest can apply online at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/careers.
