City of Charlotte accepting bids for farmland lease

Accepting bids

The City of Charlotte will be accepting bids for lease of farmlands at Beach Airport  until 2:30 pm on Thursday, April 28, 2022 for the following:

  • Approximately 72 acres of grass hay on Fitch H. Beach airport property. Individual Bids will be for a period of 3 years (Beginning in 2022, summer of 2022, 2023, 2024).  The bid will be for hay only – no other crops or cultivation will be allowed.  The successful bidder will be responsible for mowing, baling and removing hay at least 2 times each summer.  Bales are to be removed from the airport within one week of baling.
  • Approximately 15 acres of crop land on Fitch H. Beach airport property. Individual Bids will be for a period of 3 years (Beginning in 2022, summer of 2022, 2023, 2024). The bid is for the planting, cultivation and harvest of low lying crops.
Maps, insurance requirements, sample rental agreements and other information is available from Community Development Director Bryan Myrkle, (517) 543-8853 or bmyrkle@charlottemi.org. He is also available to answer questions regarding this bid. The bid should be in US dollars for the 2022, 2023 and 2024 growing seasons.

It is anticipated that the successful bid will be awarded by the City of Charlotte City Council on Monday, May 2, 2022. The City of Charlotte reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive any irregularities and to select the bid most advantageous to the City of Charlotte.
