Three faculty members from Michigan State University's College of Nursing have been recognized as fellows by the American Academy of Nursing (AAN). Dawn Goldstein, Kathleen Poindexter, and Courtney Sullivan are part of the latest group to receive this prestigious honor.

Kathleen Poindexter serves as the assistant dean for undergraduate education at MSU's College of Nursing. She joined the college in 2005 and has previously held the position of president at the National League for Nursing, a significant international organization for nursing educators. Dawn Goldstein is the director of MSU's Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program, which she played a key role in launching in 2019. Courtney Sullivan became an assistant professor and researcher at MSU's College of Nursing in August.

These three faculty members join over 3,000 AAN fellows worldwide. "This fellowship is one of the greatest honors a nurse can achieve," stated Dean Leigh Small, who is also an AAN fellow. "It speaks to their leadership, passion and commitment to improving the nursing field and preparing the next generation of nurses. I am proud to have them join the 11 other Spartan nurse educators who have already been inducted."

The American Academy of Nursing announced that its 2024 class includes fellows from 37 states, the District of Columbia, Guam, and 14 countries. The induction ceremony took place during a recent conference held in Washington, D.C.
