Rep. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district, shared updates on her recent activities through social media posts. Her communications focused on the transition process for her successor and a resolution concerning human rights in Iraq.

On November 20, 2024, Rep. Slotkin expressed satisfaction with the visit of Rep.-elect Tom Barrett to her congressional office. She noted that this meeting was part of a "responsible transition process" and emphasized her experience with presidential transitions, stating that she and her team had been preparing for a smooth transition of Michigan's 7th district for over a year. "It was good to have Rep.-elect Tom Barrett come by my congressional office today as part of the responsible transition process."

In a subsequent post on the same day, Slotkin highlighted efforts made by her team to facilitate the transition for Barrett. She mentioned that they prepared a binder outlining key issues within the district to aid in making his move into office as seamless as possible. "The team put together a binder on the key issues in the district for Tom."

Later that day, Slotkin celebrated legislative progress related to Michigan's diverse communities. She remarked on Michigan's long-standing Iraqi community and announced that the House had passed her bipartisan resolution supporting human rights and dignity for religious and ethnic minorities in Iraq. "Michigan has been home for more than a century to a vibrant Iraqi community – the largest outside of the Middle East."
