Michigan State University (MSU) is set to celebrate the achievements of over 4,000 graduates during its fall commencement ceremonies on December 13 and 14. This diverse class includes students from more than 66 countries, all U.S. states, and a majority of Michigan counties.
MSU President Kevin M. Guskiewicz expressed his pride in the graduates: "It’s a pleasure to recognize our graduates for their accomplishments at Michigan State as they prepare for the next chapter in their lives.”
The commencement will feature notable speakers who are also recipients of honorary degrees. Teresa Sullivan, former MSU interim provost and past president of the University of Virginia, will address those receiving doctoral, master’s, and educational specialist degrees on December 13 at 3:30 p.m., where she will receive an honorary degree in humanities.
On December 14, two separate ceremonies will honor baccalaureate degree recipients. At 10 a.m., Jillian Lorenz, co-founder of The Barre Code and an MSU alumna, will speak to graduates from various colleges including Arts and Letters and Business. She is set to receive an honorary doctor of business.
Darius Adamczyk, chairman of Goldman Sachs Private Asset Investments and Operations, will conclude the ceremonies at 2 p.m., addressing students from colleges such as Engineering and Natural Science. Adamczyk will be awarded an honorary doctor of engineering.
All events will be held at the Breslin Student Events Center on MSU's East Lansing campus and available via livestream. Social media users can engage with the event using #SpartanGrad24.
Graduates' families can submit personalized messages online to be displayed during the ceremonies. Safety measures include restrictions on bag sizes and prohibited items such as food or noisemakers.
Media representatives wishing to attend must RSVP by December 11.
