The NAI highlighted that its 2024 Fellows represent diverse backgrounds with honorees from 39 U.S. states and 12 countries. The cohort includes individuals who identify as underrepresented inventors making up 43% of the group.
This year's Fellows come from various research universities, governmental, and nonprofit institutions globally. Collectively, they hold more than 5,000 U.S. patents contributing significantly to societal and economic impacts.
“I am humbled to receive this recognition from NAI,” Rabnawaz said. “I am confident that this honor will help my team and research gain more visibility.” He acknowledged support from colleagues at MSU's School of Packaging and sponsors like the Department of Energy and National Science Foundation.
Since its inception in 2012, the NAI Fellows Program has grown to include over 2,068 researchers holding more than 68,000 U.S. patents. Their innovations have generated substantial economic benefits amounting to $3.2 trillion in revenue and creating around 1.2 million jobs worldwide.
