The Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is marking the 25th anniversary of the William G. Anderson Lecture Series. This annual event offers the community a chance to engage with multicultural leaders from various sectors, including education, business, industry, entertainment, and government. The series has consistently featured prominent figures from the American Civil Rights Movement.
This year's speakers include Barbara Ross-Lee on February 13, Osagyefo Sekou on February 20, and Russell J. Ledet on February 27. All lectures will take place at 5 p.m. in the Wharton Center for Performing Arts Pasant Theatre.
The lecture series is named after William G. Anderson, a pivotal figure in the civil rights struggle in Georgia during the 1960s and the first African American national president of the American Osteopathic Association. Anderson has been a friend and faculty member at MSU's College of Osteopathic Medicine throughout its history and played a crucial role in developing and maintaining this lecture series.
"We are proud to name it in his honor: the William G. Anderson Lecture Series: Slavery to Freedom," said an MSU representative. Now celebrating its quarter-century milestone, this program continues to provide mid-Michigan community members with opportunities to interact with diverse leaders.
