Elissa Slotkin, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Michigan's 7th district since 2019, has recently shared her thoughts on democracy and national security through a series of tweets. Slotkin, who succeeded Mike Bishop in office, continues to engage with constituents on pressing issues via social media.

On March 7, 2025, Slotkin expressed the importance of perseverance in democratic processes. She emphasized that past generations' dedication to fighting for rights should inspire current efforts. "We can’t be discouraged. If generations before us had given up on democracy and decided fighting for our rights was too hard, where would we be?"

Two days later, on March 9, 2025, she addressed concerns regarding budget cuts affecting national security and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Slotkin criticized Elon Musk's influence in these areas by stating: "Slashing the VA? Arbitrary cuts within our national security? I am all for cutting waste in the government, but Elon Musk is making Americans less safe."

In another tweet on March 9, she highlighted Michigan's vulnerability to changes impacting industry and agriculture: "Michigan will be the single most impacted state in the country between industry and farming."
