Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who has represented Michigan’s 7th District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently shared a series of updates via social media regarding her ongoing community engagement and policy discussions.
On July 14, 2025, Sen. Slotkin invited constituents to participate in an upcoming town hall, stating: "To join the town hall, sign up here: https://t.co/UEp0Adpir7".
Earlier that day, she reported meeting with local faith leaders to discuss significant policy issues affecting residents. She wrote: "In the meantime, I sat down today with pastors from Dexter Avenue Baptist Church and Second Ebenezer Church in Detroit to go through the details: Cuts to food assistance (Bridge Cards), pending cuts to Obamacare and Medicaid, and cuts to student loans."
Later on July 14, Sen. Slotkin highlighted a visit to a local business in Detroit. She stated: "Small businesses like In Harmony Cafe Sweets & More are the heartbeat of our neighborhoods. Located at Dexter & Duane in Detroit, this husband-and-wife duo isn’t just serving up sweets — they’re building community. Great lunch and even great passion. I’ll be back!"
Elissa Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She earned her BA from Cornell University in 1998.
