Elissa Slotkin highlights impacts of Trump legislation and Pentagon budget priorities

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who has represented Michigan’s 7th District in the U.S. Congress since 2019, addressed several policy topics and upcoming events through a series of posts on July 15, 2025.

In a post made at 12:45 p.m., Slotkin drew attention to a provision in former President Trump’s legislative package, stating, "Another little-known provision in Trump's Big Bill: It caps student loans that could exacerbate the doctor shortage."

Later that day at 2:15 p.m., Slotkin discussed her efforts regarding defense funding and job creation for Michigan. She wrote, "Whether it is new missions, new tech like 3D printing or drones and the jobs that come with that – I want it all to be in Michigan. That's what I set out to do in this year’s Pentagon budget."

At 3:00 p.m., Slotkin announced an event aimed at informing constituents about recent federal legislation. She posted, "TONIGHT at 6:30 PM: I'm hosting a telephone town hall about President Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' and its impacts on Michiganders.

Elissa Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She earned her Bachelor of Arts from Cornell University in 1998.
