Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who represents Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed issues related to federal legislation and health insurance costs in a series of tweets.
On July 18, 2025, Slotkin shared details from her weekly intelligence briefing, stating: "In our weekly Intel Briefing, we do another look at President Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' and what it means for kids in schools, the national debt and hidden provisions like:
A tax deduction for private jets
A tax hike on gambling losses
A Big PHARMA carve out https://t.co/fjzmFmRW3X"
Two days later, on July 20, 2025, she posted a link without additional commentary: "https://t.co/NNQRprGIZP".
That same day, Slotkin highlighted rising health insurance costs in Michigan: "Important, and unwelcome news: Health insurance premiums in Michigan are set to spike in 2026 – up to a 17% increase for individuals, and an 11% increase for small businesses. Every Michigander should watch their health insurance very closely this fall.
With impending Medicaid".
Elissa Slotkin has served as the congressional representative for Michigan’s 7th District since replacing Mike Bishop in 2019. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Slotkin graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
