Elissa Slotkin highlights Detroit events and landmarks in July social media posts

Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who has represented Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, highlighted local events and attractions in a series of posts on July 21, 2025.

In her first tweet of the day, Slotkin recognized a major cultural event in Detroit: "The African World Festival this past weekend was back at Hart Plaza, hosted by @TheWrightMuseum as it celebrates 60 years as a pre-eminent museum of African-American history in the state. For six decades, the Wright Museum has been a cornerstone of Black history and culture, and https://t.co/C8m1mYyX9g" (July 21, 2025). The Charles H. Wright Museum is widely known for its dedication to African-American history and its influence on Detroit's cultural landscape.

Later that morning, Slotkin posted about an intelligence briefing: "Watch my full Intel Brief here: https://t.co/FlB7444NqJ" (July 21, 2025).

Slotkin also promoted one of Michigan’s most popular outdoor destinations: "Belle Isle is a must-visit for every Michigander and anyone visiting our state. And during National Parks and Recreation Month, I was happy to get the official tour with the @MichiganDNR. At over 900 acres, this Detroit gem is the second most visited state park in the entire https://t.co/g4ei0Wg6Bq" (July 21, 2025). Belle Isle Park is managed by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and remains one of Detroit’s key recreational areas.

Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
