Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, addressed several issues in a series of posts on August 13 and 14, 2025.

On August 13, Slotkin reflected on the foundational ideals of the United States: "America is built on the American dream. This very simple idea that if you work hard and play by the rules, you should do well, and your kids should do better. And a lot of people are questioning whether that still holds."

Later that day, she proposed a measure to restore public trust in government: "If we want to regain the trust of Americans on the left, right and center, it’s a no brainer: start by banning corporate PAC donations to anyone running for office."

On August 14, Slotkin commented on health care costs under former President Trump’s administration: "A result of President Trump’s 'Big' bill: paying more for your health care."

Slotkin has represented Michigan's 7th District since defeating Mike Bishop in 2019. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Slotkin earned her BA from Cornell University in 1998.
