Sen. Elissa Slotkin, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, recently addressed issues surrounding healthcare and federal law enforcement authority in a series of posts on her social media account.
On August 15, 2025, Slotkin shared details about her visit to a Detroit health center: "Today, I toured the Community Health and Social Services Center (CHASS) where I heard firsthand what this 55-year-old health center in SW Detroit is facing in light of Medicaid cuts from President Trump's bill. Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. She holds a BA from Cornell University. Her congressional service began after replacing Mike Bishop in 2019.
