Senator Elissa Slotkin, who represents Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on August 17 and 18, 2025. The topics included support for Michigan farmers, government priorities, and health care concerns.

On August 17, Slotkin highlighted the challenges faced by Michigan farmers in reaching new markets. She stated, "In Michigan we grow things, and we're good at it. But forces beyond a farmer’s control make reaching new markets difficult. Our bill strengthens programs around biobased products to support farmers and improve their ability to sell to biobased producers."

Later that day, Slotkin commented on public expectations of government action. She wrote on August 17, "People want government to get back to basics. To help them get a good job, to buy a house, to make sure there is affordable health care and energy costs are low. Government has lost the ability to do the fundamentals, and we need to get those right."

Addressing health care issues on August 18, Slotkin posted: "Either you are at risk of losing your health care because of President Trump’s Big bill, or you are at risk of paying more."

Slotkin has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Mike Bishop as representative for Michigan's 7th district. Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing, she graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
