Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who represents Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently highlighted several issues on her official Twitter account, ranging from agricultural concerns in Michigan to technology regulation and energy policy.

On August 18, 2025, Slotkin addressed the challenges faced by cherry growers in her state, writing, "Michigan is the cherry capital of the world, but growers are facing death by a thousand cuts. Tariffs and the freezing of USDA grants only make it worse."

The following day, on August 19, she commented on the role of social media companies in children’s mental health: "Congress must hold social media companies accountable for using algorithms that get our kids addicted. If we've learned anything from the internet revolution, it's that the tech industry will not police itself."

On August 20, Slotkin shifted focus to energy policy and its effects on the middle class. She stated: "This graph helps explain why the middle class is getting squeezed. To lower energy costs, we should streamline permitting and rapidly generate more energy of ALL forms, and rapidly modernize our transmission infrastructure. Instead, President Trump is killing new energy projects."

Slotkin has represented Michigan's 7th District since 2019 after succeeding Mike Bishop. Born in New York City in 1976 and currently residing in Lansing at age 46, she holds a BA from Cornell University earned in 1998.
