Sen. Elissa Slotkin, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan’s 7th district since 2019, addressed a range of topics on her social media account between August 20 and August 21, 2025.
On August 20, Slotkin commented on the use of intelligence for political purposes, stating, "Politicizing intelligence to fulfill some political motive instead of protecting the country is dangerous, and we have to call it out when we see it."
The following morning, Slotkin highlighted her participation in an event marking the start of the school year with Oxford Schools’ teachers and staff. She wrote on August 21: "This morning, I joined Oxford Schools’ teachers and staff as they officially kicked off the school year. Oxford will always hold a special place in my heart. It was here, after unimaginable tragedy, that I saw a community come together and carry one another through the darkest"
Later that day, Slotkin discussed Michigan’s ongoing contribution to U.S. military supply chains: "Michigan has always had a special role in supplying our military since WWII. Today, a full 60% of what our soldiers shoot and drive comes from right here in Michigan. Why? Because of our history of innovation and generations of manufacturing experience."
Slotkin was born in New York City in 1976 and resides in Lansing. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
