Sen. Elissa Slotkin, who has represented Michigan’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, recently highlighted achievements and ongoing initiatives through a series of posts on her social media account.
On August 24, 2025, Slotkin shared her perspective on Michigan's role in technological innovation, particularly in defense technology: "Michigan doesn’t just build things; we create the technology of the future. Nowhere is this on better display than NewLab, where we have so many innovators working on the next generation of defense tech."

Slotkin began serving in Congress after replacing Mike Bishop in 2019. She was born in New York City in 1976 and currently resides in Lansing. Slotkin graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998.
